Komix Herbal Holds "Generasi Sehat Generasi Herbal" Talkshow at YPSA Medan
PT Bintang Toedjoe through the Komix Herbal brand held a Goes To School Talk Show at the Shafiyyatul Amaliyyah Education Foundation (YPS) Medan, which discussed the benefits and efficacies of herbal medicine. This activity was attended by students representing organizations and also pharmacists, on Friday (November 1, 2024).
Titled Healthy Generation, Herbal Generation, this Talk Show with Komix Herbal collaborated with several number of stakeholders, namely the Indonesian Pharmacist Association (IAI) of Medan, Indonesian Food and Drug Authority at Medan (BBPOM at Medan), the National Narcotics Agency of North Sumatra Provincial (BNNP), and the Tribun-Medan. Here the speakers conveyed information according to their fields, Asyrun Alkhairi Lubis as the Chairperson of the IAI of Medan said that Indonesia is one of the largest countries with medicinal plants in the world. Therefore, increasing the use of herbal medicine in Indonesia for self-medication has great potential to be developed. "Self-medication must be done according to the disease experienced. One of the diseases that can be self-medicated is cough," he said.
In addition, Asyrun explained that self-medication is safe if used according to the rules of use, so the side effects of using herbal medicines are relatively small. Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority at Medan (BBPOM at Medan), Martin Suhendri conveyed the potential for developing traditional medicine in Indonesia, one of which is red ginger. He said this is what is expected in the future, for the younger generation to innovate in developing herbal medicines from Indonesia.
Martin also educated students in consuming medicines and to continue to check the packaging, labels, marketing authorization and expiration dates. On the same occasion, the Komix Herbal product was also checked and met the standards for herbal medicines. "There are various types of medicines, but you need to be wise in consuming medicines, it must be clear before using it with CEK KLIK and the BPOM Mobile application," he explained. This access makes it easier for Gen-Z and the public to know detailed information about herbal medicines, especially if there are hoaxes about herbal medicines.
Then Heriyanto from BNNP of North Sumatra Provincial conveyed, regarding the dangers of abuse of psychoactive substances, the role of students in supporting the P4GN campaign and staying away from drugs, building a healthy future with herbs. Meanwhile, the head of Tribun-Medan, Iin Solihin conveyed to students how to determine true news and avoid hoaxes. "Now it is easier to find information, with the internet we should be able to increase literacy. But the important thing here is to be able to distinguish between valid information and hoaxes," he said. The talk show activity took place interactively with the enthusiasm of students through questions and answers.

Lagundi leaves (Vitex Negundo) are one of the herbs that contain active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and triterpenoids that have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and expectorant properties.
